Cédric will bring his expertise in “biocatalysis and hybrid catalysis”. He will reinforce the group and help us explore new directions of research, which may involve dehydrogenase, aldolase, transaminase, oxidase, and peroxygenase enzymes… in combination with heterogeneous chemo-catalysts!
Cédric Gastaldi recently obtained his PhD from the University of Clermont Auvergne with Christine Guérard-Hélaine and Claude Forano as supervisors. He mainly worked on the use of enzymatic catalysts, especially for the development of Hybrid Catalysis, combining an aldolase and a N-heterocyclic carbene Au(I) complex for the synthesis of monosaccharides. To achieve catalyst compatibility, he used different methods of enzyme stabilization such as immobilization on inorganic materials, in particular Lamellar Double Hydroxides, or compartmentalization in Escherichia coli cells. This work was the subject of a first publication and two others are still in review.
